Extended Travel Report: Italian Holiday 2015 - Day 7
Day 7 - our last day in Italy - and there were a lot of places we haven't visited! Tough decision but since it's our last day, we didn't want to tire ourselves out and just wanted to visit one more place that wouldn't require the whole day to do as we wanted to give ourselves ample time to pack, clean the apartment, and enjoy our last night in Italy.
On second thought, it wasn't that tough =p We wanted to visit Livorno ever since we first had laid eyes on pictures of Terrazza Mascagni which to quote my friend, looked very Dali-esque.
Livorno is very easy to reach by train, only 15 minutes from Pisa Centrale. And once there, you could get a day pass which enables you to unlimited bus ride for the day within the city.
To my surprise, Livorno is quite a lively city. Much livelier than Lucca, Pontedera, or Carrara. I'd like to spend a few more days in Livorno next time I'm in Italy. The city seems to have a lot to explore, half a day is definitely not enough.
Without wasting any time, we went straight for Terrazza Mascagni. We took a bus outside the train station and alighted right at the famous terrace. It is located by the ocean and the view is breathtaking!
The famous Terrazza Mascagni.
Dali-esque, no?
Clear blue water and sky.
I bet the views are amazing at night when all the lights are on.
It would have been nice to have a seafood lunch by the sea but it was too early. We settled for panini and gelato, instead.
We saw this cute canal on our way back to the train station.
At night, after all had been cleaned up and packed, I cooked spaghetti and chilled out in the apartment to end the most amazing week in Italy. Cheers!
